FaceBook "Fuck The Troops" page
Facebook is a common outlet for people all over the world to communicate, and be heard. However when people do things that are disgraceful, and tasteless I think an orginization has the duty to address these tastless acts. Can you believe theres a FB Page named " Fuck The Troops". They have over 3000 friends you can see them here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&gid=6294631819#!/group.php?v=wall&gid=6294631819 THEN you have a page pettioning the removal of "Fuck The Troops" they have over 30,000 friends you can fi......nd them here:http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=280399278819&v=info Apparently the pettition to get "Fuck The Troops removed worked, and the page was removed, but they were right back up in a few days.
One posted stated: Chris Enders Good to see we're back up and running! Fuck censorship and fuck the troops! Should some of these members be investigated?

Two days 'til Spring?
A few friends & I are visiting Steamboat Springs Colorado from Minnesota. On this day, March 12 (12:15), two of us decided to try the back section called Morningside, mostly black diamonds but I had to see it. At about 10,350' I had to take a moment to take in what I may never see again, mind you I am an average snowboarder who usually sticks to blue runs in the Rockies. Yet the snow was thick and fluffy making the run exciting and painless, weaving around trees, keeping enough speed as to not sink my board & I into the powder. We had to do it again before rejoining the others for lunch. Happy day! Today, March 14, Spring is here and we lost an hour of sleep, the wind is howling and the lifts are closed. Sadly, I may not get to see Morningside again. On this trip at least.

From above, so below
I love the idea of this assignment, but I didn't have time to go out anywhere, other than a quick driveby to the Gianicolo Hill near where I live. So I decided to take most of these photos from my balcony. Although my neighbors weren't outside, it felt somewhat voyeuristic to shoot down into their patios - as if I were spying on them.
We have had a long, rainy winter (by Rome standards, which means we can't really complain, though we still do.) The cement patios are green with moss from the damp weather - an almost electric green. We are longing for spring, with its sun, flowers and hope.
This was an interesting assignment for me because I stayed at home for most of it. It made me look at ordinary objects I see every day in a new way.
1. My neighbor's table through my hanging plants
2. Solitude
3. Vase of weeds and cactus
4. Motorcycles and cars parked on the sidewalk
5. Down below, a reflection of up above
6. A closer look at number 5
7. My neighbor's table, another view
8. Buster, unhappy about the fact that I'm working instead of taking him to the park.
9. Rome from the Gianicolo Hill. The blue at the top is not the sky, but the mountains far away. One good thing about all this rain is that the air is very clear and you can see a long way.

Save America from Socialism!
Last Chance to
Take Back America?
CONSERVATIVE VOTERS MUST UNITE NOW!
CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS
TODAY!!!!
I’m not a man given to dire predictions. But when I say that the next several months leading up to the 2010 elections may be our last chance to save America from socialism, I’m not exaggerating.
You see, right now Barack Obama is desperate. And that makes him dangerous. Sensing that his window of opportunity for “fundamentally transforming” America will slam shut in November, he is rushing to ram through the most radical parts of his agenda by any means necessary.
First on his list is the government takeover of our healthcare system that the American people have made clear that they don’t want.
Next is “cap-and-trade” climate legislation that would drive up the cost of energy use for businesses and homes, costing millions of jobs, crippling our economy, and ceding American competitiveness to other nations like China for decades to come.
Then there’s the amnesty-and-open-borders immigration “reform” bill that Obama has just signaled he wants to put back on the fast-track, because he knows it will be unpassable after the midterm elections.
Indeed, it is not simply despite, but because of the unpopularity of these bills -- and of other radical initiatives such as closing Gitmo and ending the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy -- that Obama is pushing to enact them now, before he loses political power.
And if he succeeds, this country will never, ever be the same.
That’s why it’s so important that we conservatives seize the momentum we have gained in recent months, and act now to take back America from those who would destroy us... before it’s too late.

California runaway Toyota may have been a hoax
Whilst the steaming news about Toyota hysteria continue to spread, equally contagious is the speculation whether if some of the incidents reported could have been a hoax.
The automotive blog website Jalopnik first reported questioning the the famous runaway Toyota victim Jim Sike's account. Many other media outlets, including Fox.com, were able to uncover several evidence of Jim's poor credit background and immoral business dealings. According to Fox.com Sikes has a history of allegedly filing unusually large amounts of insurance claims for stolen property. Jalopnik and Fox40 separately unconvered articles of Jim Sike's filing of bankruptcy in 2008, which leads to his victims unable to take legal actions against Jim. Jalopnik was also in contact with William Sweet, Sike's previous business partner, who reported numerous incidents of Sike's committing fraud and theft which leads to their separation.
The Associated Press, USA today and Edmunds.com have all reported that the Prius Sikes drove had a brake override system and was unable to replicate Sike's testimony. Both Dan Edmunds of Edmunds.com and Paul Robins of Fox40 demonstrated the simplicity of stopping the Toyota Prius in the situation where Sike described. Michael Fumento, a commentator at Forbes.com, questions Sike's claim to have physically leaned forward to pull the brake pedal back up using his hands whilst driving.

Iran: Stop the Deportation of Jamal Saberi
Iran: Stop the Deportation of Jamal Saberi
March 12, 2010
Jamal Saberi was arrested on Thursday March 4, 2010 by the Japanese Immigration Bureau in Tokyo with the intention of deporting him to Iran.
TAKE URGENT ACTION! SIGN THE PETITION!
Jamal Saberi (full name, Jalal Ahmadzade-Nouei) is a political activist opposed to the current Islamic regime in Iran. After refugee status was rejected for Saberi by the Japanese government, he was arrested, and now he faces deportation to Iran; a move that will no doubt lead to Saberi’s arrest by the Iranian regime. In detention, Saberi will face torture and possibly death.
Jamal Saberi left Iran for Japan in 1990. In 1992 he joined the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) and began his political activities in Japan against the violation of human rights in Iran. As a member of WPI, an Iranian opposition party, Jamal wrote many articles against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He also wrote articles that exposed Japan’s diplomatic relations with the Iranian regime. Several of his writings have appeared in the Japanese press as well as Iranian publications such as Hambastegi (organ of the International Federation of Iranian Refugees – IFIR) and Javanan-e Komonist (organ of Communist Youth Organization).
http://persian2english.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/2841.jpgHe applied for refugee status in Japan on May 28, 2002. His application was turned down by the Immigration Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Justice on March 28, 2002. He appealed this decision in April of the same year. The appeal was rejected and the Japanese police issued an order for his arrest and deportation.
Jamal was arrested in late October 2003 and transported to the Immigration Bureau’s detention center, where he was kept for one year. At the time of his arrest, Jamal had already become a popular human rights activist among the Left organizations, human rights organizations, and the trade unions. Consequently, his detention was protested by several organizations that eventually succeeded to stop the deportation order.
Albeit, the Japanese government did not grant Jamal refugee status, and the UNHCR did not make any efforts to assist Jamal Saberi.
Jamal Saberi’s lawyer has stated recently that his client is in danger of deportation to Iran.
Human rights activists around the world are working hard to ensure that Jamal Saberi does not get deported to Iran. The International Federation of Iranian Refugees (IFIR) has urged all organizations to take immediate action to save Jamal Saberi from deportation to Iran. The IFIR demands from the Japanese government to release Jamal from jail, revoke his deportation order, and take appropriate measures to protect his life in Japan.

Evo Morales political rally--Cochabamba, Bolivia
I attended a rally for the re-election of President Morales. The rally was festive and peaceful--as probably the only North American in attendance, I was treated with respect and interest from the mostly indigenous population. President Morales won the election last December with a 64% mandate to continue the programs he had implemented in his previous term--I spent several hours at one of the local polling locations and again the Bolivians carried through the election process in a festive, peaceful spirit.

Columbia, South Carolina Coffee Party
The first meeting of the Columbia Coffee Party met at the Lizard's Thickett in Columbia, South Carolina. What was most interesting (refreshing) to me was the emphasis on civility and old fashion politeness. Present was a small group of concerned citizens with a large vision of changing the tone of the public conversation about issues too important to be settled in a shouting match. The general consensus was concern about the deliberate and calculated disinformation from the media, the influence of corporate cash on our politicians along with distaste for the media hijinks South Carolina political figures have become embarrassingly infamous for.

Disciplinary committee of Zahden University issues academic suspensions
03/13/2010
GVF -- The disciplinary committee of the Islamic Azad University of Zahedan has handed down rulings for seven of the eight students it had summoned.
One of the students told Kaleme website that the committee had handed down one-semester suspensions for four students and written warnings to three more.
The disciplinary committee’s action is due to the students’ protests against the fraudulent June 2009 presidential elections.

KAMPS celebrated world kidney day
Dear Sir/Madam Kidney Awareness Monitoring & Prevention Society has arranged a colorful rally wearing T shirts, holding placards and holding two big Kidney Symbols on the occasion of World Kidney day. We led the rally with hundreds of other distinguished guests, member of KAMPS, students and people from all walks of life. Among others, celebrity actress and member of the parliament Tarana Halim also particiapted in the rally. kidney disease is a dreadful disease. And the disease is related to other diseases as well. So everybody should come forward to prevent this disease as soon as possible. KAMPS is trying hard and soul to disseminate information regarding kidney and releted diseases. Tarana Halim mentioned only 5% people have the ability to continue the long term treatment of kidney disease. But it is preventable at its early stage. Only awareness can prevent it from getting worse . The rally has covered the area from Duel Chattar to Shaheed Minar via TSC. A mobile kidney education truck also went round the city distributing leaflets regarding kidney disease information for awareness among the people. Prof. Dr. M. A. Samad President Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention society (KAMPS)

View from inside Fuji TV's Observatory (Odaiba, Japan)
Fuji Television building, from Odaiba Japan (part of Tokyo). There is an observation deck near the top of the building, inside a sphere structure. This photo was taken near closing time at night. From this view, you can see Tokyo Tower as well as Rainbow Bridge.
Taken: March 23rd, 2008
Height: The observatory is on the 25th floor. I could not find an exact height.
If you have never been to the Odaiba prefecture in Japan, I highly reccommend it. It's a beautiful and relaxing spot, with a giant park, beach, and a lot of fun things to do such as going to Pallete Town (the ferris wheel there is wicked). Plus it's only a short train ride from the heart of Tokyo.

The 20 dollar bill
There were a few posts on iReport last week concerning the conspiracy theory of 9/11. Considering our government's m.o.; the circumstances leading up to the war; and the ever-growing pile of circumstantial evidence; I'm not so sure why people scoff at the idea of government involvement in 9/11.
Looking at the 20 dollar bill folded up into the shape of an airplane should give Americans shivers, but then again most Americans wear crosses and think that they are symbols for Jesus. Most people celebrate Christmas and Halloween without ever questioning the symbols or ceremonies. They never ask themselves about the purpose of their actions...they just sheepishly follow.
